My Journey

My journey to Australia to see my mum

It started in 2019 when my aunt was pregnant and my nan needed to be there with her. But the only problem was that my nan was in New Zealand with me and my aunty was in Aussie. I asked my nan to secretly book me a flight with my savings with her but to go to another part of Aussie to see my mum as well. It was now time to go to the airport I had my luggage ready and I had my iPad so I could listen to music. We got on the plane and I was lucky enough to be next to the window.

3 hours later we were descending on to the runway in the Gold Coast. We met my aunty outside the airport. I was so excited to see her I gave her a big hug and we drove back to her apartment. I played with her dog Charlie, he loved licking me. At night we drove back to the airport to drop me off so I could go to Perth by myself. We were disappointed to hear that I was underage. So we drove back home to book new flights. When we got home I went straight to sleep because I had to wake up at four in the morning and my flight was at six o’clock.

At the airport, I kissed my nan and aunty goodbye and headed to my terminal. I met the kindest crew members who let me sit behind the pilot. We touched down at Perth at midnight. One of the crew members walked me out.

My other aunty who lived in Perth picked me up from the airport. We drove to my mum’s house and she started crying when she saw me at the door. I gave her a huge hug and then went inside to surprise my brother and sister. My brother was ecstatic when he saw me my sister yelled my name and gave me a hug as well.

I ended up staying with my mum for two weeks and it was probably the best two weeks I’ve had in my life. It was a Saturday I’m pretty sure when I had to go to the airport because it was time to go back to the Gold Coast. When it was time for me to board my plane I started getting emotional.

When I walked on the plane i got to sit next to the pilot again but when we were at cruising altitude i had to go to my seat because i needed to sleep.  Tara, who is one of the crew members put me in my normal seat. Tara came back to wake me up just as we were about to land in Brisbane.

I was picked up by my nan because my aunty was in the hospital with my newborn cousin whose name is meia. A few days later I and my nan left to go back to NZ. When we got back it was really cold because it was winter. My journey was very interesting I went through ups and downs but overall it was worth it.
