Themes explored in the book - ‘I Am David’ by Anne Holm
Control:
In this story Anne Holm is exploring the Theme ‘control’ by making David live in a concentration camp and David doesn’t have any Free will. David thinks being in control of someone is cruel and that violence is the worst thing in the world.
Justice:
In this story Anne Holm is exploring the Theme ‘justice’ by making David have to walk and beg for rides to get to Denmark. David doesn't know much about justice however he does know that the guards in should be taken to custody.
Freedom:
In this story Anne Holm is exploring the Theme ‘freedom’ by making David escape the concentration camp to go all the way to Denmark to have freedom. David thinks everyone should have freedom where ever when ever.
Reliance:
In this story Anne Holm is exploring the Theme ‘reliance’ by making David try to find somebody to trust and to look for Mrs Anderson. At the start of the book and movie David has know one to trust except for Johannes.
